For anyone who didn't read my previous post that included a review on one of these shades these lip glosses aren't exactly the most opaque formula. if you enjoy high shine, minty plumping, and a bit of stickyness that helps them stay longer this may be the perfect set for you. It comes with 15 mini glosses in 3 different finishes. So lets get started.

Katie
Baby Pink with tiny shimmers or "Pale Pink

Kir Royale

NYX Mortal Instruments Parallel Worlds Review (Espanol)

Me lavó horriblemente.

NYX Mortal Instruments Parallel Worlds Box Review

Now I can go on for days and days about how I read all of the Cassandra Clare Mortal Instrument novels in about two weeks, how I loved them and how excited I am for the last installment. I could also spoiler it up and talk about why I'm super excited for the movie and how the ending may make or break the movie for me. However, that isn't what this is about, but I should start a teen lit book club blog because I devour those books.
Anyway, it seems as though NYX decided to collaborate with the movie to create the Mortal Instruments Box set which can be found on their website and at the Ulta stores and website. The box has six products and is about $25.00 but Ulta always sends out $3.50 off any $10 you spend so you can get it for about $21-ish.

You get the Smokey pallet which on it's own retails for $7.00.
The pallet comes with a white color, a brighter taupe color, a navy blue, a plum, a soft black, and a shimmer gray. All of the colors are really soft and pigmented, you can easily blend everything together. There is also enough variety in this pallet that you can create a soft eye look with a pop of color (if you want) or a really intense smokey eyes with any of the colors.

You also get one of the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils in Cashmere which usually retails for $4.50.
Cashmere is described as a shimmery champagne color on the website. The color is so pretty as an eye base, as a cream shadow, or as an eye liner. It glides on and is pretty nicely pigmented (like all of their jumbo eye pencils are) I own about five of them now and they are all so soft and amazing that I'd buy them all if I could. You could definitely use this as a cream shadow, use the taupe from the smokey pallet to define the crease and then use the white as your highlight for a softer look.

You get the Boudoir Mascara in Le Frou Frou which retails for $6.00.
This mascara has become my go to mascara. It doesn't smudge on me (even when I'm gross and sweaty) and it helps to lengthen, curl, and doesn't clump up on me while it's thickening my lashes. This may have been the biggest stand out in the pallet to me, but like with foundations somethings that I love may not work as well for you. It's a bit of a wetter formula (which to me means it stays wet longer on my lashes) so beware when you are doing your make up because it may transfer to your eyelid. It also does have a normal mascara wand, no fancy rubber bristles here.

You also have the highly acclaimed Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul $6.00.
It's described as a clean pink. Now this one was hit and miss with me. The formula was amazing. I loved that it felt like a creamy soft, not glossy, almost liquid lipstick feel to it. It didn't feel drying and had no gloss or shimmer to it at all which works well enough for me. I comfortably wore it and it was really long wearing, lasting for about four hours before I ate, and then staying almost perfectly through my meal. The miss for me though was the color. It wasn't pale enough to be nude, it wasn't pink enough to be vivid. It washed me out horribly. So I love the product it's just on my skin tone it looked absolutely hideous but works is I put a colored gloss on top of it.

You receive a Powder Blush in Pinched $5.00.
It's described as a coral pink with gold glitter and iridescence. This powder is a little powdery and by that I do not mean to state the obvious but powdery like how there will be fall out once you dip your brush into it. The color is highly pigmented and while it's an amazing color a little does go a long way with this one. I was able to wear it all day without any fading (which may have more to do with my foundation choice) it also remained just as bright. It did have more iridescent qualities than gold glitter in my opinion. It gave off a nice natural highlight to the shade. I'm not a big fan of blush but I'm sure if I was I'd be raving about this one.

Lastly you get a Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Black $4.50.
This liner was my least favorite and it may have more to do with the brush than anything else. I've become very accustomed to a felt tip brush/pen or a gel liner brush. I used to use the liquid liner with a brush tip and I forgot how completely annoying they are to me. My lashes at the end curl naturally (yeah I know, poor me. *sarcastic*) so when I try to use the liquid liner it gets on my lashes and dries really slow so if I don't remove it will get all over my eye lid and if I do then it gets all over my hands. ANYWAY, I digress, I was having some make up rage there haha, it really is just your basic black liquid liner. It has a short brush, and does not dry matte. It's also not waterproof.

Anyway, thank you for reading, I hope that was informative.
Thanks for reading xoxo

Jordana Lip Reviews

So since I'm addicted to buying all types of beauty products (and I say beauty because I'm on a very strange nail polish kick lately) and I'm really trying to start this blog, and get to doing stuff with it I decided to work my way around some new products that I bought recently and have been playing with for a while now. All the lip products are Jordana which you can buy at Walgreens and are fairly inexpensive.

Now if you follow my personal account on Instagram (beatlesxchic) then you know that I promised on Saturday to review them and to be honest I've been itching to try them ever since, but because I haven't actually taken them out for a spin I won't be able to give you an educated review on how long they last on your lashes. Also, like I've stated before all the pictures are cropped because I have a really awful 5 mega pixel camera and really awful lighting in my very pink room. None-The-Less when I try to use the sunlight in my room as lighting everything in my pictures get a pink tint. So with that, lets start this bad boy.

Okay lets start off with the simple stuff. The lip products.
First I decided to buy the Jordana Lip Out Loud Super Shiny Gloss in 104-BFF
Regularly $2.29 but Walgreens is having a BoGo 50% off sale right now so it was $1.14
Now as you can see in the swatch the gloss isn't very pigmented. It is a sheer gloss that has a hint of fuchsia in it, which in some cases is exactly what you want and/or need on some occasions. If you're lips are really pigmented naturally don't expect this product to do much more than look like a clear gloss. However, on the up side this gloss smells like candy. The sweet smell is powerful enough that you will smell it on your lips for a while after application.
The gloss gives a very nice sheen, doesn't feel sticky or tacky in any way. It also doesn't give your lips that awful shine that makes them look greasy either. Over all I really do like the gloss but if you want something more pigmented for about the same price try the NYC Liquid Lipshine in Fashion Avenue Fuchsia which has more pigment to it and the color is basically what you would have expected from BFF, only be very aware that the NYC gloss is a little bit sticky and a thicker consistency.

Now I also bought the Jordana Twist and Shine in 04 Candid Coral.
This lip balm stain is $3.29 at Walgreens.
Now maybe it's just the shade that I chose but as you can tell it isn't very pigmented. It does follow the big balm stain trend but it doesn't feel like the Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain, it feels more moisturizing, and more light weight. However, with two swipes of the Revlon stain I get a fairly pigmented red lip, while with this one I kept trying to build up the color to no avail. But with lighter colors it's usually very normal to be less pigmented if, like I said before, your lips are more pigmented.
You can see that on my lips it looks less coral and more like a soft pink. It does reflect light nicely and feels really comfortable on lips. In fact, dare I say I actually liked the feeling on this on my lips more than the Revlon lip stains. This doesn't wear as awfully on my lips and dry them out the way the Revlon balm stains did. However, my lips are super sensitive to dryness so you may not feel the same about the Revlon balm stains as I do. I am curious to try more of the Jordana stains in the different colors they offer though.

Lastly I have heard beauty bloggers rave about the Jordana lip liners and let me just say... wow.
I bought the Jordana Easy Liner For Lips in Sedona Red for $2.29
Sedona Red is a bit darker than I thought it would be. But my gosh is it gorgeous! It is the PERFECT lip liner for a shade like MAC's Russian Red which is a smidge darker than their more vibrant reds due to the more blue tint to it. I digress, my next post will have something to do with MAC reds though so keep an eye out for that.
I'm very pleased with this liner to be honest. First of all it's retractable which means that I don't have to carry around a sharpener with me, and if you are a make up artist you understand that if you can cut anything out of your kit, you do it because kits get incredibly large. Also when you're out and you need to reapply your lip stuff the worst thing that can happen to you is that you find out your pencil isn't sharpened and all you have to work with is basically wood. Now I usually use the MAC lip liner in Cherry for my red lip needs and while Cherry is the perfect shade for all the reds I have in my collection, and let me say I have a... ... few. BUT the Jordana liner is just... perfect. It glides on like a dream! There isn't any tugging at all it's just like buttah! It's just something that I want in multiple colors to add to my kit and personal collection because not having to sharpen something, plus the inexpensive price tag, plus the texture is awesome. I just wish they had more of a color selection than their 13 colors that they have on the website now. I would like to try their other retractable liners though.
Anyway, I'm done for the moment toodle-loo ^-^

Tid-Bits-
  • I was listening to Lorde radio on Pandora and my gosh is it just a great mixture of female Electro/Indie Pop.
  • I have a big obsession with winged liner and red lips.
  • Don't know if I should do a red lips blog or just a red MAC lips blog.
